Q. What does this change mean?
A. This change means that all providers and pharmacists are now required to have an active IA PMP AWARxE account at https://iowa.pmpaware.net/. If you do not have an account and are currently using the EMR to get patient PDMP reports, you will be impacted.
Q. How does the system know if I have an account?
A. The identifiers (Ex. DEA, NPI, State License + State License Type) that are sent in your EMR's requests to our system will now look at the OARRS database to see if an account exists for you and is active.
What do I need to do?
- Make sure that your IA PMP AWARxE account is active by logging in at https://iowa.pmpaware.net/. If you have trouble logging in, please see the Login Assistance article in our PMP AWARxE Help Center.
- Make sure that the identifiers on your user profile are accurate, both in IA PMP AWARxE and your EMR. For more information on how to review your OARRS/PMP AWARxE user profile, see the My Profile Page article in our PMP AWARxE Help Center.
What if I don't have an account?
If you do not have an account, you must register and be approved for an account at https://iowa.pmpaware.net/. Click the Create an Account button to begin the process. If you have trouble registering, please see the How to Register - Updated Registration Process article in our PMP AWARxE Help Center.
If my account is not active, or is pending, can I still use PMP Gateway?
You will not be able to perform queries via PMP Gateway/your EMR until your account is active and approved. If your account is pending approval, the state administrators will act upon your request. If your account is deactivated and you feel this is incorrect and want to request it be reactivated, you'll need to contact the state administrators at the Board of Pharmacy at mitchell.barnett@iowa.gov.
